Dunwoody homes vary in style from split level, two story and ranch style houses in established neighborhoods to newer single family homes, newer townhouses and high-rise condos. As residential real estate development has taken place in Dunwoody, builders have preserved much of the indigenous forest, creating a woodsy buffer between many homes that lends privacy as well as shade to generous yards. Dunwoody homes are extremely popular with young families who move to the area specifically to avail themselves of the outstanding schools and community environment – many homeowners find their children grow up together and neighbors become lifelong friends.
In addition to fine public schools, Georgia Perimeter College’s Dunwoody Campus is located in Dunwoody. Local parks include Brook Run (which includes a 2 acre off-leash dog park, skate park and an extensive children’s playground), and the Atlanta Jewish Community Center’s Zaban Park. The Dunwoody Nature Center offers a variety of programs and camps to enrich residents’ knowledge of local flora and fauna.

Popular Dunwoody neighborhoods include:

Dunwoody Village commercial district. Loaded with retail, restaurants and vital services, this area is known as “Downtown Dunwoody” with nearby subdivisions such as Wyntercreek, Wynterhall, Verdon Forest, Fairfield, Redfield, Withmere, and Mill Glen offering a wide range of housing styles. Most Dunwoody homes for sale in this area have been built between the 1970’s and the present, so there is always a wide selection of real estate available. Most subdivisions in the Dunwoody Village area offer swim and tennis within the community. This area has a community feel, hosting the annual 4th of July Parade, Lemonade Days Celebration, and the active Dunwoody Homeowners Association.
Perimeter Mall and Perimeter Center. This largely commercial area of Dunwoody borders the Atlanta perimeter highway, I-285, and offers outstanding shopping and dining opportunities from white tablecloth fine dining to smaller casual restaurants. Recent residential development in the Perimeter Center West area includes new townhomes and luxury high-rise condos with outstanding views of the Buckhead, Midtown and even downtown Atlanta skylines. The major regional mall and surrounding employment area make this a great location to live, work and play.
Northeast Dunwoody. Technically in the city of Sandy Springs, this area extends to the Fulton and Gwinnett county lines and includes beautiful Spalding Drive and its fine homes on large, often densely wooded lots, the prestigious Dunwoody Country Club, and surrounding subdivisions including Dunwoody Club Forest, St. Andrews, Deerfield, Fontainebleau and the Enclave at Jett Ferry. Dunwoody real estate in this area includes many architectural styles to suit families large and small. Convenient shopping and dining is available in the Jett Ferry area, and Perimeter Mall is only a few minutes’ drive away.
Southeast Dunwoody. The established neighborhoods of Kingsley, Dunwoody Trails, Dunwoody North, Shenandoah Estates, Georgetown and Williamsburg fall into this general district. Most homes are traditional in design and offer the large, wooded lots you’ll also see near Dunwoody Village. Quick access to I-285 via North Shallowford Road and North Peachtree Road make this area appealing for commuters.
Dunwoody offers small town charm and an abundance of business, shopping and dining opportunities.

    the Dunwoody Nature Center, the popular Brook Run Park, Jim Benson Bike Trail, local swim and tennis clubs and

    Community Center and the Donaldson-Bannister Farm are a prominent part of the community and serve as meeting

    The Butterfly Festival and Light Up Dunwoody bring neighbors together and emphasize the strong sense of
    community Dunwoody offers.
